  • Project name: Invasive Reed Removal, Adobe Building and Native Garden mulching and planting

  • Project description: We have 3 projects to focus on. Take your pick or try all three stations!

  • Invasive Reed Removal: Help make the river a healthy ecosystem once again! We need your help to remove an invasive reed that threatens the local native plants and trees that support Kern County wildlife.

  • Native Garden: Mulching, weed removal and putting a few new plants in the ground.

  • Adobe Building: Help us beauitfy the new welcome center with a adobe bench! Hands on work that is a Okihi Volunteer favorite!

  • No experience required. All ages welcome.

  • Number of volunteers needed: 25-35

  • Start time: 9am

  • End time: 12pm

  • We encourage all ages to work together. This project has multiple strength and skill sets. From using clippers, pulling weeds, digging in the soil, and lifting. 

Tools, gloves, drinks and snacks will be provided.

At the end of the project volunteers are invited to join us to meet the okihi animals and feed the horses!
