Project name: Invasive Reed Removal
Project description: Help make the river a healthy ecosystem once again! We need your help to remove an invasive reed that threatens the local native plants and trees that support Kern County wildlife. We will also focus on replanting wildflowers and a few other native plants. No experience required. All ages welcome.
Number of volunteers needed: 25-35
Start time: 8:30am-11:30
End time: 11:30am
We encourage all ages to work together. This project has multiple strength and skill sets. From using clippers, pulling weeds, digging in the soil, and lifting.
Tools, gloves, drinks and snacks will be provided.
At the end of the project volunteers are invited to join us on a short gentle walk with the sheep and goats around the property.

Okihi 70th Anniversary- Fall Festival
Once a cherished hub where Bakersfield youth connected with the great outdoors, Okihi was a vibrant place for learning and growth. Though the camp was destroyed, White Wolf Wellness is committed to restoring its legacy and rebuilding it for community use!
Okihi Fall Fest marks the reintroduction of camping, community use and outdoor education programs for Kern County. This event celebrates not only the revival of these it also includes, music, family adventure, hay rides, touring the camp grounds, classes on native plants, raising your own chickens and camping 101. Also included are a petting zoo, drinks by Temblor and a limited number of our famous chicken and waffles! Come be a part of this exciting new chapter and help us rekindle the joy and adventure for the next generation.

We will be working removing a invasive reed called Arrundo Dorax. No experience necessary. Things to bring- clippers, hedge trimmers, gloves.
We also need people with trucks or dump trucks to help take this stuff out to the green waste facility.

Common Ground
This event is free to the public. It is outdoor so dress for the weather. Close toes shoes encouraged! Carpooling encourage to reduce impact on the land.
We will have rotating art stations every hour from 11-3pm. Traditional storytelling at the outdoor amphitheater with Alan Salazar, beadwork at the riverside picnic tables with Lori Myers, and contemporary art at the garden with Sean Navejas.
Final event of the day is drumming with Gene Albitre at the main stage from 3-4pm.
Food truck and drinks available for purchase. Proceeds go to help rehabilitate Okihi, 14 acres along the Kern river to a mindful community recreational retreat.
All ages welcome, no pets please!
Sheep, horses, goats and chickens, hammocks and gentle hiking are part of the Okihi experience. This event is free to the public. It is outdoor so dress for the weather. Close toes shoes encouraged! Okihi is a slightly wild landscape, undergoing restoration, so watch your children.

Sound Bath Under the Stars
Join us for a magical evening of healing and relaxation at our Sound Bath Under the Stars event on March 30th at Okihi along the Kern River. Immerse yourself in the soothing sounds of crystal singing bowls, gongs, flutes, the human voice, and various electronic instruments as we use precise binaural rhythms to relax the mind and encourage lucid dreaming.

GroundWorks: Growing Greatness
This program is funded by the Virginia and Alfred Harrell Foundation and FREE to the public.
In this 3-hour class, we explore:
Gardening - Visit the Okihi Garden!
Composting - How we do it and you can too!
Water Sequestration - What is it and why is it important?
Rotational Grazing - How animals play an important role in the overall health of the whole system.
Dress for the weather and bring water!
All ages are welcome. Please do not bring any dogs or pets!

Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast into wireless headphone receivers worn by the participants. The wireless range allows dancers to hear the music directly. Roam around Okihi and be close to the river and connect with nature while dancing. It truly is magical.
Enjoy eclectic music sets from local DJ’s Kinetic Distortion and Citizen Zain.

Chicken & Waffles Brunch
Help us fundraise for the “Okihi restoration project” by joining this absolutely delicious Fried Chicken & Waffles Brunch. Okihi is a 14 acre retreat space on the north side of the Kern river, under care of the White Wolf Wellness Foundation. The chicken for this event is raised and harvested at Okihi, and prepared by infamous local event organizer: Sam Ames and crew….It doesn’t get more farm to table than that!
Make it special with syrups, and a side of apricot-jalapeno and bourbon jam.
Desert is apricot coconut cobbler and cupcakes.
One drink (beer, wine, mimosa) included in the meal, additional beverages available for purchase.
We will be serving food from 10-12am, but the property will be available for you to stay and hang out at Okihi until 4!
