WHAT IS A SOUND BATH ?
During a sound bath performers quite literally guide the participant on a journey inward using intentional sound waves that permeate the given space. Participants can move, sit, lay down, stretch, meditate, sleep.... but generally assume a comfortable position lying on the floor soaking up the vibrations. Like waves through water, the sound waves travel into the many layers of the physical and emotional self - gently massaging and stimulating the body and mind. Unlike songs, and written music, the sound is abstract and stands alone. This simplicity allows the participant to enter into a subconscious ‘journey’ riding the waves of sound. We utilize Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, flutes, drums, the didgeridoo, the human voice, harps, as well as electronic and pre-recorded soundscapes to create certain tones, harmonies, rhythms and frequencies intended to tune, and rebalance the mind-body-spirit connection naturally.
WHAT IS LUCID DREAMING ?
Have you ever “awoken” in a dream, and been able to actively participate in your dream-world? Lucid Dreaming as an intentional practice has been used for countless centuries in many different traditions and communities, and the Dreamtime was considered especially important in understanding the subconscious mysteries of the Self. Dreaming is obviously a mystical experience, especially lucid / or active dreaming. Lucid dreaming can be difficult to learn and access regularly, but a Lucid Dreaming sound journey can be a great way to practice!
HOW?
Through gentle preparatory movement, mindful breathing techniques and a background of binaural rhythms - participants are able to literally ride the sound waves into deep states of subconscious awareness - similar to the Theta brain wave state in which we dream. In this state of being, the subconscious speaks, creating the opportunity for a unique understanding of the Self via active dream-states.
